Message from the head-coach:

The coronavirus and self-isolation

I’ve been self-employed all my life and it seems the likelihood of Boris paying me to stop at home if I’m feeling a bit under the weather are very slim. There is no way Christine and I can run our business from home!! I guess I’ll have to wait and see what develops. But just at the moment I’m getting vibes that things are very similar to when I was in charge of a large herd of dairy cows during the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001. Large parts of the country were out of bounds and we all became frightened of going anywhere.

Hopefully things will stay pretty calm and we can host the Thirsk 10. The downside to all this is that Christine and I have entered 8 or 9 races, booked 4 holidays and we’ve just had a massive spike on our pension fund. However, all this is in the future and it’s not all bad news because I’ve just had the best winters training for quite some winters and I’m not in bad shape. This weekend I’m running the Yorkshire Vets Cross country Championships in Sheffield and I’m really looking forward to it. The forecast is wet and windy so nothing much changes and if it’s not cancelled, I’ll let you know how I get on!!

keep smiling. Rob
