Rob’s weekly blog and training update w/c 06/05/19
MONDAY 6TH MAY
7pm Athletic Club. Yes, yes, yes. There is training tonight but quite what it is yet I don’t actually know but I’m working on it. Bring a big smile and we’ll make it happen.
Running element:
Big lap: Divide into pairs, runner no 1 does 1/2 a lap, then runner no 2 rest of lap. Runner no 1 must make her/his way back across the middle of lap to be ready to go when runner no 2 arrives at finishing point. Then visa versus
Beginners group
Week 5. 7pm Back field. Last week you managed almost 55 minutes of continuous movement during the session. Each and everyone of you did it so be pleased and proud of what you have achieved so far. It doesn’t get any easier but you will improve in leaps and bounds from now on.( honest)
TUESDAY 7TH MAY
Social run from Thirsk and Sowerby leisure centre at 7pm (meet in foyer). Mostly off road depending on the weather. Suitable for all abilities; there will be several stops to run back/regroup, no-one runs by themselves or gets left behind. New and returning Tuesday night runners always welcome.
Route to be decided on the night, around 5 miles. Please wear high vis if you have it. Trail shoes not essential but can be worn if you have them.
WEDNESDAY 8TH MAY
7pm. Athletic Club
There is some serious racing going on at the moment and also large groups at training sessions so we should be using all this enthusiasm to everyone’s advantage. I’m putting in some big training sessions so please come along and be part of it. They are not designed to kill you; they are designed to help you improve. We can, at whatever level improve together.
4 x 30 sec/ 30 secs rec + 2 ( 4 x 3mins/ 1 min rec) 2 mins between sets. + 4 x 30 secs / 30 secs rec.
I have been promised (again!) an improved circuit around the rugby pitch for us train on and hopefully it should be up and running for next week. I do realise not everyone in this world moves with the enthusiasm as yours truly but I’m quite optimistic something will very happen soon.
I managed 4.46 miles at training this week which is my longest run since Captain Cook’s on New Years day so if you think you are going through a bad spell then there might just be others little worse off than you. I never use an injury as an excuse for not being fit, it just an excuse for not being able to run. I was pleased with my strength, pace judgement and even my leg speed pulse so I’m not in bad of a shape for only running 2 mile a week. Onwards and upwards, less biking and aqua jogging and hopefully more running from now on.
