New Members Shine At Reindeer Stampede

Three new members were among those turning out at the weekend for the Epilepsy Action Reindeer Stampede 5k on a very cold morning at Robert’s Park, Saltaire.  This multi- terrain, mainly flat, race had a definite festive feel to it with “reindeers” aplenty!  Brian Smith, in his first ever race, completed the course in a very commendable 24.58 with Shaun Gascoigne taking 26 minutes, Andy Peckitt 29.25 and regular racer Ian Codling 30.10.
At the other end of the scale, Steve Middleton was once again in superb form, WINNING  the recent Town Moor Marathon in an excellent time of 2.54.34, ahead of 93 other runners.
Across the globe, John Yates competed in the Singapore Marathon, where conditions were much hotter.  He finished just inside his 4 hour target time, taking 3.59.08.
If you  like running, why not join Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers?  New members of all ages and abilities are welcome, and 2 evening indoor sessions a week are especially valuable in the colder weather!
