Marian’s Weekly Report – w/c 14/07/14

There was a good club turnout for the popular Kilburn 7 at the weekend, run on its customary hot day.  The tough, scenic route had 207 finishers and it was good to see Gary Dunn in fine form winning
the race comfortably in a time of 40.47, and also getting the prize for 1st M45.  Dan Holdsworth came 5th in 44.22 with Stephan Tomaszewski 17th in 47.12, those three just missing out on the team prize.  Rob Burn was 32nd in 50.59,  Paul Atkinson 38th in 51.19,  Graham Robinson 40th in 51.33,  Rob Lickley 46th in 52.52,  Lorraine Hiles 51st, and 1st F50, in 53.35,  Bryan Miller 54th in 54.31,  Alan Harman 75th in 58.12,  Hilary Coventry 77th in 58.22,  David Fawkes 81st in 58.34,  Geoff Bullock 95th in 60.08,  Peter Richardson 96th in 60.20,  Marc Davies 102nd in 61.01,  Julie Forster 157th in 68.58,  David Goddard 159th in 69.11,  Christine Burn 169th in 72.03,  Ian Codling 192nd in 79.20 and Marian Codling 206th in 88.30.  A delicious WI tea was enjoyed by all after the race.

Laura Bosomworth demonstrated that she is multi-talented with a 2nd place in her age group in the Ripon Junior Triathlon on Saturday, involving a 400 metre swim in the lake at Ripon Racecourse followed by an 8k bike ride and a 2.4k run.  Congratulations to Laura on this superb result.

Earlier in the week, half a dozen members were among the 63 finishers of the Carlton Midsummer Meander Fell Race, Race 6 in the summer series.  Pete Wilkin led club runners home, 20th in 37.42, Marc Davies 35th in 42.23,  David Read 40th in 44.36,  Alan Wikeley 58th in 60.21, with Claire Gillan and Bryan Miller finishing together, 59th in 61.39.
