Marian’s Weekly Race Report – w/c 28/04/14

Ten Harriers were among the 295 finishers of the testing Fountains 10k at the weekend, where the boggy stretch across the moorland was as boggy as ever, if not boggier, after rain over the previous few days!  Neverthless, it was a fair morning and Rob Burn, in his element, had another good run to come 28th, and 1st M60, in 43.26.  Marc Davies, flying just now, was 74th in 48.39, with Bryan Miller 87th in 50.05,  Martin Cummins, going from strength to strength, 115th in 52.28,  Paul Goacher 127th in 53.39,  Claire Gillan 207th in 61.11,  Christine Burn 219th in 62.09,  Jo Richardson 254th in 66.31,  Jane Cummins 267th in 70.29 and Bev Davies 287th in 76.52.

Ian and Marian Codling were at the scenic Great Langdale 10k on an altogether firmer footing, though the course has frequent undulations.  The morning’s steady rain just stopped in time for the 12 pm start of the race and Ian came 187th in 64.21, Marian 195th in 73.12, both a couple of minutes quicker than their last outing over this course.

Pete Wilkin likes his fell running and he competed in the Fox and Hounds Fell Race at the weekend, finishing 13th overall and 1st M55 over a 9 mile course with 1450 feet of climb!

Final positions for the Winter Series of fell races have been worked out, and Lorraine Hiles was 7th overall in the women’s open section, 3rd F45, with Hilary Coventry 4th F45.  Carol Morrison was the winner of the F50 section – well done – and Pat Kirby was 2nd F60.
