Marian’s Weekly Race Report – w/c 23/06/14

The last race in the HDSRL took place on Thurs, (the night England lost to Uruguay!) hosted by Dragons Running Club, and 25 Harriers were among the 262 finishers over this scenic, testing course. Cameron Choules came an excellent 19th in 35.33,  Stephan Tomaszewski 31st in 37.03,  Walter Busuttil 47th in 38.39,  Graham Robinson 67th in 40.32,  Bryan Miller 88th in 42.08,  Martyn Coy 89th in 42.15,  Hilary Coventry 117th in 44.38,  Sonja Van Der Westhuisen 123rd in 45.07,  Marc Davies 126th in 45.23,  Peter Richardson 131st in 46.03,  David Shorrocks 152nd in 47.31,  Nicola Jenkins 157th in 47.52,  Steven Scott 170th in 48.37,  Duncan Fothergill 175th in 49.14,  Geoff Bullock 184th in 49.44,  Faith Coy 205th in 51.42,  Julie Forster 206th in 51.43,  Rebecca Hartley 210th in 52.12,  David Goddard 213th in 52.41,  Claire Gillan 225th in 54.53,  Nigel Morgan 231st in 55.40,  Sharon Keegan 250th in 62.27,  Ian Codling 255th in 64.09,  Bev Davies 260th in 65.46 and Marian Codling 261st in 75.16.

The lovely Staveley 10k took place at the weekend on a warm, fine morning and Ken Wood, in his first outing for the club, had a very good run to finish 20th in 42.40,  Paul Atkinson 27th in 43.25, Rob Lickley 35th in 45.01,  Ian Codling 121st in 66.16,  Pat Huck, in her first race for more than a year, 133rd in 70.15 and Marian Codling 139th in 76.08.

The previous day, 15 year old Laura Bosomworth was at the Fountains Abbey parkRun.  Laura goes from strength to strength and had a superb run to come 14th out of 162 starters in 19.55, her first finish under 20 minutes, but certainly not her last.

At the Whorlton Fell Run, Pat Kirby was 71st in 64.59,  Fran Jeffery 73rd in 66.12 and Alan Wikeley 80th in 78.00.

Pete Wilkin did the recent Kettlewell Fell Race over a steep 1.5 mile course and finished 25th out of 105, and 1st V50.  At the Hawkswick Fell Race, Grassington over a steep 1.2 mile course he was 2nd V50.

Hester Cox competed in the recent Abbey Anniversary Fell Race at Kettlewell and came 30th in 52.45, winning the prize for the 2nd lady.  At the Penyghent Fell Race over 5.5 miles with 1600 feet of ascent 2 days later, on a wet and stormy day, Hester was 55th out of 106 in 68.58.  The race was part of Horton in Ribblesdale Gala, but sadly, the rest of the gala was washed out!
