Marian’s Weekly Race Report – w/c 12/05/14

The first HDSRL of the season took place at Ilkley on Thursday, with 19 TSH members out of a massive field of 341.  Rain before the race managed mostly to clear, leaving a damp atmosphere but no wind for this race which began with a long uphill climb, levelling off and finishing on a long downhill and  then flat.  Rob Burn lead club members home, finishing 84th in 33.57,  young Charlotte
Knowles 113th in 35.52, managing to hold off Graham Robinson 115th in 35.41,  Marc Davies 153rd in 37.47,  David Shorrocks 161st in 38.08,  Martin Cummins 164th in 38.22,  Peter Richardson 185th in 39.20,  Pat Kirby 215th in 40.37,  Steve Scott 237th in 41.27,  Geoff Bullock 240th in 41.44,  Louise Knowles 278th in 44.56,  Julie Forster 302nd in 46.29, Christine Burn 303rd in 47.02,  Andrea Almack 311th in 48.50,  Sharon Keegan 325th in 53.02, Joanne Richardson 326th in 53.11,  Ian Codling 330th in 54.04, Bev Davies 337th in 57.11 and Marian Codling 340th in 59.46.

Pat Kirby also ran the previous evening in the Carlton Challenge Fell Race. The rain once again held off and there was a field of 120 for Race 1 of the Summer Series.  Pete Wilkin was first club finisher, 37th in 43.21, Hester Cox 56th in 46.47,  Lorraine Hiles 82nd in 50.43,  Bryan Miller 87th in 51.23,  Pat Kirby 109th in 61.15 and Claire Gillan 114th in 64.02.

Alan Harman competed in the Ravenscar Half Marathon at the weekend, his 6th half marathon of the year.  The race was held in aid of Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue and 109 runners completed this severely undulating course partly along the Cleveland Way and old railway lines.  Alan finished 63rd in 2.12.40, a full 7 minutes quicker than last year!  Well done!
