Marian’s Weekly Race Report – 20/07/15

Five Harriers were among the 216 finishers at this week’s park Run at Fountains Abbey, with in form Bryan Miller coming a very good 9th in PB 19.14, followed by Charlotte Wilton 22nd in 21.35, Claire Gillan 60th in another PB 23.39, Paul Adams 176th in 32.24 and Liz Stephenson 199th in 37.50.   Peter Richardson was among the 297 runners at the Darlington event, coming 90th in 23.58.   At Burton Leonard 10k the following day 199 runners tackled the testing, multi-terrain course on a fine morning, though wind was an issue at times.  Ian Codling, nursing an injury, came 194th in 71.55 and Marian Codling 197th in 78.14.
Alan Harman likes something even more challenging and was among almost 1000 runners of the Northumberland Coastal 14 miles, and the course was definitely hard though beautiful from Beadnall Beach to Alnmouth Estuary, running into a southerly wind.  Alan finished 641st in 2.06.52.
The previous week, three members did the Guisborough Grunt Fell Race on a warm, sultry evening, with Bryan Miller once again leading the way, 27th out of 94 in 53.20, David Read 63rd in 61.43 and Claire Gillan 81st in 68.50.
Remember to get your entries in for the Sessay Swift 6k on Wed Aug 26th, 7.30 pm.  Even the newest beginner could tackle this flat road race!
