Marian’s Weekly Race Report – 06/10/2014

The 8 Harriers in the field for the Sutton Park 10k at Sutton on Forest, definitely a multi-terrain race taking in rough tracks, the old airfield and tarmac roads, all in all harder than might be expected for a mostly flat course.  Rob Lickley, on fire just now, came 57th in 45.26 followed by Charlotte Wilton, 61st in 45.58, ever improving Andy Butcher 90th in 49.09, Geoff Bullock 94th in 50.02, Ian Codling 194th in 65.38, Ernie Huck, in his first race for more than 2 years, 208th in 70.25, Pat Huck 211th in 73.11 and Marian Codling 214th in 78.06.

With several Park Runs locally, Harriers competed in 3 of them, all over a distance of 5k.  At Fountains Abbey, Martin Cummins was 39th out of 183 runners in 23.31, Malcolm Aitken 102nd in a new personal best of 27.48, Gary Holmes 140th in 30.27, Jane Cummins 143rd in 30.53 and Hayley Holmes 154th in 32.38.

At the Darlington event, Dan Holdsworth won the race in an excellent new personal best of 17.20 with Steve Middleton a superb 3rd in 17.55 and Joanne Richardson, gradually getting back into form, 136 out of 152 in 34.23.

There were 288 finishers at the Harrogate PR, Charlotte Wilton running well to come 64th in 22.39.

Pete Wilkin is again involved in the cyclo-cross competitions this year and finished 83rd, and 6th M50, in the recent Yorkshire Three Peaks event.
