Marian’s Weekly Race Report – 02/09/14

10 Harriers were among the 863 finishers of the Wetherby Run 10k, a race which always seems harder than you think it ought to be! Conditions were warm for this fairly flat race, quite a bit on trails and Gary Dunn was once again in fine form leading club members home to finish 4th and 1st M45 in 34.31. Dan Holdsworth, also in a good vein just now, came 8th in 35.16, with Rob Lickley 93rd in 42.49. 15 year old Laura Bosomworth goes from strength to strength, winning the prize for the 1st U20 female and finishing 111th overall in 43.40. Liam Allison, also steadily improving, came 147th in 44.51, with Alan Harman, getting consistently good 10k results, 204th in 47.27, Chris Wordsworth 543rd in 57.33, Elizabeth Wordsworth 569th in 58.20, Ian Codling 724th in 65.00 and Marian Codling 858th in 80.47.

Julian Norton took part in the Burnsall Feast 10 mile road race, an altogether hillier affair, described as brilliant by Julian. He came 15th out of 146 finishers in a very good 63.01.

Duncan Fothergill and Gillian Crane were at the Fountains Abbey Park Run the previous day, with Duncan 66th in 25.44 and Gillian 147th out of 178 in 33.52. Both Charlotte and Louise Knowles achieved personal best times in the Darlington Park Run, with Charlotte 45th in a very good 21.45 and Louise 106th out of 213 in 25.53.

The summer fell race season is drawing to a close, with evenings getting cooler but still pleasant enough for running. Hilary Coventry was 63rd, and 1st F50, in 62.52 at the recent Guisborough Grunt and Fran Jeffery came 73rd in 67.18. The following week, the race was “Inclined to Madness” and Pete Wilkin came 20th, 2nd M55, in 56.22 and Alan Wikeley 71st in 96.48.
