Marian’s Race Report – wc03/11/2014

On a perfect morning for running, 11 Harriers were among the 815 finishers of the tough Guy Fawkes 10 based at Ripley Castle with the man himself in circulation!  This was race 15 out of 16 in the club championship series and Stephan Tomaszewski was at the forefront, 37th in a wonderful 1.07.21.  Next, the ever successful Graham Robinson, 143rd in 1.14.54, followed by Rob Lickley 159th in 1.16.09, Marc Davies 221st in 1.19.20, Bryan Miller 252nd in 1.20.55, Alan Harman 360th in 1.25.16, Stephen Billings 457th in 1.30.00, Duncan Fothergill 466th in 1.30.40, Claire Gillan 543rd in 1.34.19, Christine Burn 695th in 1.43.29 and Ian Codling 773rd 1.52.14 – a full 4 minutes quicker than his time for this race last year!  A huge apology to Claire Gillan for missing her result off the Filey Cross Country report last week.  Constantly improving, she came 44th in 27.34.

4 Harriers took part in the Guisborough Three Tops Fell Race on the same beautiful morning, with Charlotte Wilton first club finisher, 86th in 92.00, Hilary Coventry 97th in 95.13, Fran Jeffery 115th in 108.24 and Alan Wikeley 123rd in 120.28.

There were 210 finishers at the Fountains Abbey Park Run, David Shorrocks leading members home 40th in 22.27 in his first Park Run.  Steven Scott was 43rd in 22.49, Martin Cummins 56th in 23.48 and Jane Cummins 141st in a new personal best 29.21.

At Darlington Park Run, Brian Smith came 68th in 23.39, a PB for Park Runs but his first time at Darlington, Malcolm Aitken 105th in 26.27 and Joanne Richardson 179th in 33.58.

The previous weekend, when conditions were altogether wilder and windier, Alan Harman took part in the Castles Half Marathon based on Bamburgh Castle and finished 85th out of 216 in 1.52.50.
