Lovely Day For A Clart

Another busy weekend for Harriers saw at least 3 races on the day!

Seventeen members took part in the NYSD cross country fixture at Richmond racecourse, which was also a club championship race, on a beautiful day in a beautiful place.  Pat Kirby lead the ladies home, finishing 46th in 27.33, with Carol Morrison 47th in 28.13,  Christine Burn 57th in 30.45,  having a fight to the finish and just pipping Claire Gillan, 58th in 30.47,  Cath Lumb 60th in 33.23 and Marian Codling 61st in 38.23.The V65 men completed the same course, Geoff Bullock coming 4th in 26.37 and Ian Codling 7th in 35.11.In the men’s race, over twice the length, Merv Burn was first club finisher, 22nd in 41.06, with Stephan Tomaszewski 27th in 42.09,  Rob Burn 34th in 43.11,  Martyn Coy 57th in 46.24,  Hywel Smith 69th in 49.57,  Steven Scott 70th in 50.14,  Bryan Miller 72nd in 51.14,  David Read 73rd in 51.53,  Richard Easby 78th in 59.24,  and Phillip Craig 79th in 60.09.

The morning race, the Commondale Clart, had 4 members participating out of a field of 128.  Once again, the morning was lovely, and no rain over preceding days meant that the course reverted to its usual clart rather than welly-deep mud!  Chris Raw came 45th in 48.05,  Lorraine Hiles 66th in 51.54,  Nicola Booth 84th in 53.30 and Steve Booth 100th
in 56.36.

Don’t forget the Thirsk 10 on March 24th!
