Lorraine First In The Hunt For The Easter Egg At Helmsley 10K

The fourth running of the Helmsley 10k Challenge, actually about 10.3k,saw 305 runners tackling the event on Easter Sunday morning.  A long, 2 mile climb at the start was enough to challenge any runner, but, as ever, Lorraine Hiles coped with it admirably, finishing 73rd in 46.15, and taking the prize for the 1st F45 finisher.  Alan Harman, ever enthusiastic, came 156th in 51.35 with Richard Easby 254th in 60.17,Cath Lumb 276th in 62.41,  Ian Codling 284th in 63.59 and Sue Reynard 301st in 70.57.  All runners received an Easter egg!
On Good Friday, Ian and Marian Codling took part in the re-convened Marmaid 5k at New Marske.  The race, held annually, should have been a 10k over 2 laps out towards Redcar, but a serious accident along the coast road cast the whole race in doubt.  However, after some delay, the police allowed a 5k race to go ahead, and Ian Codling finished 172nd in 29.02,  Marian Codling 180th in 31.42.
Club summer sessions continue based on Thirsk Athletic Club.  Runners of all abilities and ages over 11 are welcome on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 pm.
