Jolly Holly Ends The Year

2011 was rounded off with the annual Jolly Holly Jog 10k on Dec 27th, in and around Studley Park.  There was plenty of mud on this mostly off-road race which also has lots of hills!  414 runners completed the course on a morning which was fine for running, with Julian Norton leading the way for the club, finishing a very good 8th in 38.36.  Brett Edgeworth was next, 83rd in 45.44 with Keziah Paxton, first lady club finisher, 163rd in 51.03,  and Alan Harman 181st in 52.18.  Tom Calvert in his first outing for the club, had a good run to come 216th in 54.25 with Mum Alison just a few places behind, 219th in 54.32, Nik Sutton-Haigh 223rd in 54.48,  Fran Jeffery 247th in 56.37, Steve Billings 294th in 59.57,  Yvonne Wood 324th in 61.40,  Jo Fambely 332nd in 62.49,  Ian Codling 338th in 63.15 and Marian Codling 408th in 72.39.
The previous week, Noel Clough and Pete Wilkin competed at Thornes Park, Wakefield, in the penultimate race of the Yorkshire Points cyclo cross series.  Although technically a veteran, Noel opted to ride in the Senior race and finished an excellent 2nd.  Pete had mechanical problems at the start of the race and did well to progress through the field to finish 9th, and 1st V50.  Unfortunately, he was taken ill shortly after the race and ended up in hospital.  He is now on the road to recovery
and we wish him well.
