Harriers Go Cold Turkey At Loftus

Six Harriers were at the Loftus and Whitby Poultry Run on Suday on a beautiful morning.  This, mainly road, race of just over 7 miles was well supported, with many runners in seasonal dress, but sections of ther ace were off-road and definitely plothery!  Charlotte Sanderson continued her superb form to finish 2nd in a time of 49.41, coming away with two dressed poultry and a fabulous Christmas hamper, Pat Kirby 214th in 68.56, 2nd in her age group and also coming away with a turkey,  Alan Harman 258th in 74.32,  Chris Sykes 262nd in 75.24,  Ian Codling 327th in 89.46 and Marian Codling 348th in 103.16.
The previous day, Ian and Marian were among the 409 runners who competed in the friendly, undulating, Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10k, where each finisher received a Christmas Pudding!  Ian came 340th in 65.04 and Marian 393rd in 73.30.
Noel Clough is back in the swing of cyclo cross, entering round 5 of the National Trophy Series at Shrewsbury recently.  The course was flat and twisty, but overnight frost followed by a thaw made conditions very slippery with some awkward cambers.  Noel finished 9th in the V40 category.
The club Christmas Dinner and Presentation Evening will be held on Saturday at Oswald’s, but the calendar is already in preparation for next year’s Championship and the first race will be the Clay Bank East Fell Race on Jan 6th, open to all members!
