Question | Answer |
| 1 | Name | David Shorrocks |
| 2 | Occupation | Lawyer |
| 3 | Home | Carlton Miniott near Thirsk |
| 4 | Favourite Distance | Most of the year half marathon (although i do not run as many as i would wish). Because i do not like racing in heat, in the summer 10k |
| 5 | Best Running Moment |
Starting AFTER Rob Burn in a
handicap!!! Less facetiously 2005 Brass Monkey running along side the
metronomic Ernie Huck at 11 miles and hearing him say “You push on Dave”.
I achieved a pb of 1.34 |
| 6 | Worst Running Moment |
3 come to mind-
Passing Alasdair Thorpe on the top at Cock Howe and Beyond in 2004 and not giving a team-mate encouragement. Thirsk 10 in 2002- I badly dehydrated and at 9 miles had to ask one of the householders for water. Hitting the wall in London 2006 and taking 65 minutes to cover the last 6 miles. The only consolation was coming up alongside Gordon Ramsey at 25 miles and outpacing him down the Mall. |
| 7 | Favourite Training | Leeds Liverpool canal through Blackburn and into Chorley!! It's flat and as many will have heard me say “I don't do hills”. I can only run it when we are visiting my in laws and therefore I never get bored with the scenery. |
| 8 | Local training Area | The footpaths and bridleways around Thirsk- if I see a public footpath sign I follow it. |
| 9 | Other Interests | Rugby (sadly no longer as a player- I took up running in my mid 30s when I couldn't risk further injuries ) and Genealogy- at my age a family tree is the only sort I am capable of climbing. |
| 10 | Running Aspirations | A sub 40 10k (highly improbable, but if I achieve it, it will be in the Ribble Valley 10k); a sub 1.30 half and more probably a sub 3.30 marathon. Top of the pile must be Level 2 coaching certificate. |
