Gribdale Gallop On A Balmy Evening

A dozen or so Harriers were among the 1165 finishers of the popular 2-lap Darlington 10k on a fine warm morning.  With town centre races becoming a bit of a rarity these days, congratulations and thanks go to the organisers.  Steve Middleton, finding benefit from his regular park runs, lead club members home in 35th place in 36.19, with Phil Utley, also flying just now with his track and field sorties, 48th in 37.22,Paul Atkinson 168th in 42.41, evergreen Rob Burn 184th in 43.23,  Geoff Bullock 325th, and 2nd M65, in 47.00,  David Goddard 647th in 53.42, Phillip Graig 781st in a personal best 56.51,  Christine Burn 831st in 57.45,  Ian Codling 892nd in 59.22,  Cath Lumb 990th in 62.41,  Marian Codling 1054th in 65.45,  Pat Huck 1094th in 68.26 and Pam Sherlock 1117th in 70.19.  This was Race 11 in the Club Championship series.
In race 9 of the Summer Fell race Series, the Gribdale Gallop on a balmy evening with some variable breezes, Pete Wilkin finished 43rd in 67.14 with Lorraine Hiles, creeping steadily up the finishing order, 46th in 68.59,  Sarah Glover 52nd in 69.56,  Fran Feffery 76th in 80.04 and stalwart Alan Wikeley 80th in 89.40.
The Sessay Swift 6k takes place next week, on Aug 23rd at 7.30 pm.This is a fast, flat course, on roads, and full information can be found at  www.thirskandsowerbyharriers.co.uk, or just turn up on the night at Sessay Village Hall.  The race will suit beginners and experienced runners alike.
