Good Turnout At Guisborough Three Tops Fell Race

The Guisborough Three Tops Fell Race took place recently, Race 3 in the Winter Series.  Three inches of snow the previous day, turning to sleet and cold, caused the final descent in particular to be very muddy.Gavin Coventry was first club finisher, in 32nd place in a time of 80.37.  Hester Cox was next, 59th, and 2nd V40, in 89.06, with Lorraine Hiles 90th in 98.10,  Hywell Smith 112th in 107.32,  Alan Wikeley 123rd in 113.19,  Hilary Coventry 127th in 116.01 and Fran Jeffery 132nd in 119.04.  The Ladies’ Team were beaten into 2nd place by a single point.

The tough Guy Fawkes 10 was held at the weekend, with the man himself there at the beginning of the race!  There were 794 finishers on a cold, foggy at times, morning, when it was not always possible to see the top of the steep hill you were about to run up!  (Maybe just as well!)  Steve Billings lead club runners home to finish 414th in 1.28.26, with Nik Sutton-Haigh 495th in 1.33.06, finishing ahead of husband Les for once.  Les was supporting a friend round the course, and came 539th in
1.35.08 and Ian Codling, in his third 10 mile race in three weeks, was 720th in 1.47.52.
The previous weekend, in the Harewood 5 mile Trail Race,  Steve Holloway was 19th in 41.02 and Ivana Holloway 56th in 49.12, out of 107 finishers.
