Get Your Spikes Ready

We are now into a routine and the training will be at Thirsk School until half term:

Mondays  7pm School gym                         Wednesdays 7pm  School Sports hall

The next Club Championship race is on Sunday 20th Jan, a crosscountry. Perhaps you may want to run over the country for the first time.  If so, I would advise buying a pair of spikes. The lighter they are, the better.  Expect to pay half the price of a pair of running shoes. Have a good warm up, stay wrapped up until the last moment and go for it!! Wrap up as soon as you finish. Remember, you don’t get points for style and the shortest route is usually the quickest. You may not like mud but it is easy to wash off this year. I see it is a long course for the men, but it will be nothing like the challenge of getting undressed when you arrive home and getting into the shower without leaving a trail of mud on the bathhroom floor.

JUNIORS.  Following the committee meeting last Wednesday, which was also attended by several interested parents, progress is being made regards juniors attending harriers. We have volunteers willing to become welfare officers and junior coaches. Hopefully, it won’t be too long (it could be as soon as February ) before they are in position and we will be able to welcome back juniors to the training sessions. Thank you to parents and juniors for being so patient and understanding. (Juniors, keep active until then).
