Dans The Guy As John Goes Plain Crazy

The year got off with a bang for Graham Robinson and Lorraine Hiles, who were among the massive field of 254 finishers in the annual Captain Cook’s Fell Race on New Year’s Day!  With perfect overhead conditions, Graham, getting back into running after illness, came 147th in 47.44 and Lorraine not far behind, 151st in 47.52.
Enthusiastic past member, John Yates, no longer living in the area but still in touch, entered the recent Salisbury Plain Crazy 12 mile race on the bleak military ranges near Warminster, finishing 9th, and 2nd V40, in a very good 1.17.32.
Noel Clough, back in action after Christmas, took part in the Yorkshire Points Cyclo-Cross race at Todmorden over a muddy and notoriously slippery course and finished 3rd V40.
Well before Christmas, in sub-zero temperatures, Dan Holdsworth took part in the Guy’s 10 near Bilsborrow, Garstang, and finished 9th in a superb 59.15, his first time under an hour over this distance.  Well done, and apologies for the late appearance of this report!

All thoughts now are on the forthcoming popular THIRSK 10 ROAD RACE on March 24th, 11 am at Thirsk Racecourse.  This annual event, organised by Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers, welcomes entries from runners over 16 years of age, and entry forms are to be found at the copy shop in the town.  Full  details can be taken from the club website, with on-line entries available.  The race will involve permitted ROAD CLOSURES, from 10.30 to 11.45 am on Newsham Road and from 11.15 am to 1 pm on Sandhutton Lane.  The club apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, and affected residents will receive a personal letter with details.  We hope you will all wish to come out to support the runners!  Anyone interested in helping with the race is invited to contact the club.
