Cross Country Relays

A big thank you to all those who helped and took part today. I hope you all enjoyed it. It makes it easy  when every one mucks in to help clear things away. We were packed up and ready to go within minutes of the last runner finishing!! I know the weather helps but we had a large turn out with 7 teams taking part. It is sometimes said that 2 miles is too short a distance to turn out for but you all know my answer would be that ” you don’t run it hard enough!!!”  All those who ran today thought that 2 mile was plenty far enough. All the times will be available tonight on the xcountry league web site. (so I am told )   Thankyou and well done to you all.

Last night I ran the Rat Race 10k at Newburgh Priory. All off road and even quite a lot of it off trail. It was tough, fast and fun with lots of obstacles, mud and water and all of it in the dark. Now I know where all the younger people go for their adrenalin fix, the average age of the competitor was a lot younger than you will see in the every day road race. I really enjoyed it and I did get quite a buzz running between trees and crossing a lake waste deep in water then having to run at break neck speed to the finish only to be confronted with two seven foot walls only yards from the line. The race took place on land that I used to work on years ago as a young lad so it was like a trip down memory lane. I think about 600 took part, I finished 20th and took the first vet prize which was a nice bonus. Honest, if you want a hard work out they don’t come any harder than this.
