Phill And Carol Shine At Summerhill

Seven Harriers travelled to Dalby Forest for the second running of the Dalby Dash 10k on a very misty morning which curtailed what would have been lovely views!  As it was Remembrance Sunday, a two minute silence was impeccably observed, preceded by a few appropriate words from race organiser Darran Bilton.  Lorraine Hiles had another wonderful run to finish 61st in 42.57, 5th lady overall, and winning the F45 category.A very productive morning for Lorraine! Ever improving 15 year old Joe Reynard came in 135th in 47.28, with Fran Jeffery, getting ever nearer her target time of 50 minutes for this distance, coming 181st in 50.14,Richard Easby 296th in 56.21,  Ian Codling 320th in 58.28,  Sue Reynard 364th in 64.46 and Marian Codling 369th in 65.47.
On the same day, 5 Harriers were at the cross country event at Summerhill, Race 3 in the NYSD Series.  The interesting though testing lapped course attracted a higher number of entries than usual, with Carol Morrison, in her first outing in a Harriers vest, finishing 51st out of 75 in the Ladies’ race in 23.25 and Pat Kirby 55th in 23.57.  In the Men’s race,  Phill Utley, once again in excellent form, was 15th out of 136 in a time of 34.35, with Dan Holdsworth 40th in 37.52 and Kevin Winfield 82nd in 40.55.
Steve Middleton, just getting better and better, came a superb 3rd out of 347 entrants at the recent Albert Park 5k time-trial in a personal best time of 17.19.
Noel Clough competed in the Inter Areas Cyclo Cross Championships at Milton Keynes Bowl recently, as part of the Yorkshire Vets team, and finished 3rd Vet, and enabling the Yorkshire team to become National Champions.  Pete Wilkin competed nearer home, at Flatts Lane, Normanby, and won the Vets section – an excellent result.
