   Speed Training !

Purpose :- To train the body to be able to run at a higher average speed.

Aim     :- To run faster, longer by some special training idea.

Idea    :- Scooter aided speed training.

This was going to be my secret weapon for the up and coming 1962 season.

It all started well, I had persuaded my friend who had a scooter of sorts and tied a piece of rope to the rear of his machine

as to which i would take hold and run like the clappers, one yelp for slower and two for faster. As we both worked two miles

straight up the road this was an ideal situation to get too and from work with the added bonus of high speed training.

Fantastic, after the first week and a couple of niggles all was going well. Then that bloody dog ran out. My mate swerved hard left,

i was sling shotted like a water ski jumper and flew 30mph straight into the village duck pond. I'm sure i would of been national

champion if it wasn't for that bloody dog. I missed the next race due to injury and the press had the cheek to say i had ducked out.

I keep on at Gary one of our club runners to give it a go , but to no avail. He must be clueless that dog must of passed away by now.

Hopefully we will have more valuable information from Billy Cramp-up next week.
