   X-Training

Billy's advice for cross training is YES without a doubt.

He says many years ago he was lacking motivation and enthusiasm as he got deep into winter training , so he decided to give

cross training a go. Fantastic , worked wonders and i was fully recharged and raring to get back to my next running session ,

was his answer  to the question of did x-training help.

Billy had selected swimming as his cross training sport. So it was off to the local pool to start his new training . Straight away

he says he was hit with a strong choking stench of chlorine , then as he jumped into the pool (which of course is a large bath for

many people) , and got swiming he realised he was getting mouthfulls of other peoples bath water . Certainly a change from the

outdoor countryside air he was used to. He proceeded with his training heading up the pool taking in all the breath taking views ,

tile after tile then bump he says he had banged his head on the wall and now it was time for the return journey down the pool with

more of the views. Billy says after finishing his session it was time to get changed into nice dry warm clothing , but not for long

because as he was putting his trousers on the water off the floor was rising up his legs like rising damp.

Two weeks of this , Twenty pounds out of pocket (price of a pair of good running shoes in those days) and looking like a

shrivelled prune ,He was back running with his motivation and enthusiasm back in tact.
